Instructor Spotlight: Lisa Levine and Hugh Willard

We’re looking forward to learning from two returning OLLI instructors this Fall, both committed to improving your health and wellness. Get to know them before classes begin!
Lisa Levine is the Senior Director of Programs for the Dementia Alliance of NC, and has been employed by the organization for 15 years. Lisa’s popular class Understanding Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease provides helpful advice for people who are caring for someone with dementia or experiencing it themselves. Lisa has taught this course since 2016, and continues to do so as she “enjoys teaching OLLI members because they are very engaged and always ask the ‘hard’ questions. We have a lot of very beneficial discussions and everyone learns even more as a result.” An empathetic instructor passionate about service and wellness, Lisa is also a Certified Laugh Yoga Instructor. Welcome back Lisa!
Hugh Willard is a counselor and psychotherapist with over 35 years of experience in the wellness field. Hugh taught his first OLLI class 6 years ago and we admire his thoughtful and creative approach to coaching and care. His brand new course Against Type: Ageism in Today’s World will explore various ways to combat the stereotypes of aging and help you make the most of this stage of life. Hugh finds meaning teaching for OLLI because “OLLI members are simply remarkable. Eager to learn and engage in stimulating conversation, ideas, and perspectives. I consistently come away from my classes with new insights based on members’ experiences and passions.” Just like you, Hugh is a lifelong learner–he is completing a MFA in Creative Nonfiction and looks forward to many years of writing and teaching creative writing. Welcome back Hugh!
