OLLI is a community….

An Instructor teaching a group of OLLI students

Many members tell us they are looking for “more than just great classes” when they join OLLI at NC State. Whether you are new to retirement or new to the area, here are some of the favorite tips we’ve heard from longtime members for making OLLI friends:

  • Join a Special Interest Group. By default, you’ll be around people who share at least one common interest with you.
  • Take a study trip and sit next to someone you don’t know yet on the bus or at lunch.
  • If you’re a new member, sign up for our New Member Meet and Greet.
  • Sign up to participate in one of our Volunteer events. You’ll get to meet someone new while you’re volunteering in the community.
  • Join an OLLI Committee!
  • If you’re a few minutes early to your class, say hello to the people sitting around you.
