Through the establishment of the Integrative Science Initiative, NC State is at the forefront of cultural changes in scientific discovery. Collaborating across disciplines facilitates new synergies in research and education, enhancing the training environment for students, faculty and staff at the Integrative Sciences Building, newly renamed Woodson Hall. ISI director Dr. Joshua Pierce will discuss the objectives of the program and explore the science and engineering that will enable its success.
About the Instructor: Dr. Pierce completed postdoctoral studies at The Scripps Research Institute before joining NC State in 2012; Howard J. Schaeffer Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, leads the Integrative Sciences Initiative and Building at NC State; also heads the Pierce Research Group, which focuses on harnessing the diverse architectures of marine natural products to inspire advances in chemical reaction development, chemical biology and therapeutic lead identification.
