Coffee and Conversation

If you are able to spend one hour per month going to a coffee shop, you can have a big impact on an international student’s NC State experience as part of the Coffee and Conversation program.

With the start of the new semester, new international students are arriving at NC State this week. Coffee and Conversations pairs an OLLI member with an international student for a one hour conversation once a month for a semester. As often as possible, people are paired by gender. International students get the vital opportunity to practice their conversational English skills with Americans. OLLI members get the chance to learn about new friends, countries and cultures through these conversations. Robin Kube, senior lecturer of foreign languages and literature at NC State and coordinator of this program, says “International grad students look forward to having conversations with Americans.”

Call the OLLI office at 919-515-5782 to learn more and sign up.
