How long is my OLLI membership valid?
OLLI members renew their membership each year. The $50 annual membership runs from July 1 to June 30. We prorate the membership as the year progresses, so the membership drops to $40 on November 1 and drops to $20 on March 1.
What is the refund policy?
General Refund Policy
- The annual membership fee will not be refunded.
- A $10 processing fee will be deducted from any refund.
- If you cannot attend, we cannot allow substitutions.
- If OLLI cancels a course or event, you will be notified and given a full refund (or you can transfer to another course or event in the semester). Please allow three weeks for processing refunds.
- Since lectures, courses, lunch and learns, experiential learning and study trips can overlap in time – drop fees apply if you double-book yourself.
Courses and Experiential Learning of $26 or more
Members may drop a course or experiential learning of $26 or more and request a refund online or by contacting the OLLI office at least 14 days before the start of the course. A $10 drop fee per member, per transaction will be charged. Members may transfer to another course, study trip, experiential learning or lecture for no fee – this can be done by contacting the OLLI office. The OLLI office can assist you with making a payment for the balance due and receiving a partial refund for the difference in fees as applicable.
Lectures, Events and Experiential Learning of $25 or less
No refunds will be given for lectures, events, or experiential learning with fees of $25 or less. Members may transfer to another course or lecture for no fee – this can be done by contacting the OLLI office. You may transfer to a course of equal or greater value – the OLLI office can assist you with making a payment for the balance due if applicable.
Study Trips and Lunch and Learns
- 14 days or more in advance — Refunds for study trips and lunch and learns requested 14 days or more in advance will be granted at 100% minus a $10 drop fee. Transfers to other courses, lectures, study trips and lunch and learns can be granted for no fee if space is available. The OLLI office can assist you with making a payment for the balance due and receiving a partial refund for the difference in fees as applicable.
- 8-13 days in advance — Refund requests received 8-13 days in advance will be subject to a $10 drop fee, then you will receive 50% of the remaining study trip fee. No transfers will be granted.
- 7 days or less — Refund requests received 7 days or fewer in advance will not be granted. No transfers will be granted.
Multi-day Domestic and International Travel
The refund policy of our travel partners (Odysseys Unlimited, Road Scholar, etc.) applies.
What is the adverse weather policy?
OLLI programs, including off-site classes and study trips, are canceled when the Wake County Public School System closes to students because of adverse weather. Wake County school delays in opening do not affect OLLI’s schedule – we will operate on a normal schedule. When the school system closes early because of impending weather, we typically do not cancel OLLI classes, but watch for an email from the OLLI office under those circumstances. Zoom courses and lectures may be able to continue despite adverse weather, and decisions on Zoom courses and lectures will be made on a case-by-case basis – look for an email from the OLLI office on the day of the Zoom lecture or class.
Is parking available at the McKimmon Conference and Training Center?
Parking in the front lots of the McKimmon Conference and Training Center is free and usually plentiful. Please be sure to park in the green-striped spaces. If we know in advance when parking will be close to full because of other events at McKimmon, we will include that information in the class announcements, in the Parking Alerts section of our weekly email, and broadcast via email.
Note: There is no parking specifically designated for OLLI members. When parking attendants are present, please park where directed.
Does OLLI provide financial aid?
Members with limited discretionary income should contact us if financial assistance is needed in order to enroll in a six-week course. A “bank” of courses has been donated by other members for this purpose. Learn more about financial assistance.
How can I get to the McKimmon Center if I do not drive?
If you are disabled, Accessible Raleigh Transportation (ART) provides transit services to persons who qualify under the ADA. Call ART at 919.996.3459.
